What is in-home care?

Q) What is In-home care?

Supportive care by skilled, caring and compassionate nurses, health professionals, and/or care and companion aides in the comfort and security of one’s own home. In-home care is ideal for individuals who wish to remain living independently, but may require some support services. It is a cost-effective alternative to assisted-living and nursing home care.

Q) Who is in-home care best suited for?

Anyone who may be recovering from an accident, illness or surgery; the elderly; new moms; caregivers needing respite care and those who are handicapped or disabled can benefit from in-home care services.

Q) What is the difference between home care and home health care?

Home care provides assistance with tasks like personal care, house cleaning, meal preparation, laundry cleaning and transportation. These individuals do not need to be licensed or certified. On the other hand, home health care providers are either registered nurses (RNs) licensed practical nurses (LPNs), or Physical Therapists, which offer services including medication dispensing, blood pressure screening, health assessments, wound dressing, and occupational and physical therapy.

Q) What are some important factors when choosing a homecare agency?

Besides being able to provide the needed skill sets in a safe, compassionate and competent manner, make sure the service provider is licensed, bonded and insured. Personality is another important factor. At KeepMeHome, we strive to match the best-skilled, best-qualified individuals whose personality is best suited to the situation because we understand the importance of choosing the right person who will come into your loved one’s home to care for them as if they were family. And, we are Medicare/Medicaid certified, so the chances of having healthcare services covered are likely.

Q) What if I only need help for a few hours a week?

One of the best features of KeepMeHome is our flexibility. We can provide as little or as much help as you need from one hour a week to 24-hour, live-in care.

Q) How far in advance do I have to call for services?

KeepMeHome can arrange for services with as little as one hour’s advance notice, so long as sufficient information is available for us to assess the client's requirements. Naturally, the location of the person’s residence or care site and other factors come into consideration. Our first and foremost concern is always to give the client the best service with the best person. Our ability to respond is second to none.

Q) What towns in Connecticut do you cover?

KeepMeHome provides services throughout most towns in the entire state of Connecticut.

Q) What will the caregiver do for us?

Depending on the needs of the individual, the caregiver will provide a variety of services. These can include assistance with bathing and dressing, light housekeeping and meal preparation, to name a few. Our evaluation process, which can be done initially over the telephone, will help determine the range of services that would be most appropriate and best suited.

Q) If I need to cancel services, how far in advance do I have?

We appreciate at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel services. Of course, emergencies are also considered.
